I didn't notice a thing with mine either. What model did you get, I just have the stage 1, ended up replacing whatever filter came with it (got the whole thing for free initially) and put in a pro-guard 7 dry setup. Good choice of filter though, I really like the AFE setups.

Stage 1 is just the housing that drops in, in place of the stock filter, and the filter inside is removable. Stage 2 would be the whole piece that attaches to the turbo too. You can get either stage with a variety of filters though. Even if you don't have the dry setup, I'd recommend getting it at some point, so much easier to clean, and I really don't like the idea of having a filter with oil on it on a turbo application.

1. The EGR is already pushing oil into the turbo, it vents above the left valve cover directly into the intake. There are several threads about this to include how to re-route it.

2. If you put so much oil on your K&N or AiRaid filter that it passes oil into the turbo, you put on WAY too much. I've been using an AiRaid in my OEM box with the front removed (why pay $200 for a system when removing the front and a $70 filter will do the same job?) since 06. Works fine.

The EGR valve shouldn't have any oil on it or near it...

The oil in the intake system comes from the CCV (crankcase vent) which vents into the intake right in front of the turbo. This too has caused it's own issues, but it would be different than the filter oil. Filter oil is REAL sticky/messy, and has been known to cause issues with MAF's and other sensors. Probably not really an issue on the 05-07 trucks since they don't use the MAF/butterfly valve like the 03 and early 04 trucks, but once you own a dry filter setup, and see how easy it is....

You couldn't pay me to run a K&N FWIW.
