Question Upgrading Turbo and Sticks - need some advice

First, I have done alot to my truck in the last month, thanks to Mdub 707 and Little Luke, lots of help with information and pics. You guys know your 6.0l's.

I am looking to upgrade my turbo and injectors. I have looked at the Powermax with Warren 175cc. It is my DD and will pull a 12K 5th wheel several times a year. Will the PM and 175's work out? If there is another turbo/stick combo that will work better? Jess Warren said I may be just over 500 Hp with this setup. Would really like to stay away from twins.

I never even noticed the first post. I think you'll be pretty happy with your selection though. If EGT's are out of control towing that much weight you have a few options. You can upgrade the powermax with a batmowheel drop in, it runs about $400, will reduce EGT's, increase spool up and pull harder up top, really better all around.

Next would be a water/meth setup, aiming more on the water side. I've heard good things about the warren injectors.

Who's tunes are you going with? Make sure to get them updated for the turbo and sticks. You should be real close to the 500rwhp mark on fuel only.

Let us know how you like it! I'm jealous!

I have to say, I was wondering if you might chime in....I updated my sig after I did most of the work myself. I paid a Ford diesel mechanic cash on the side to do the studs, he didn't pull the cab, just tipped the block forward a little and removed alot of other stuff in the bay. Had the heads checked and magnafluxed. $1000 plus parts and machine work. Took him a day.

I jumped on a Pmax cause I got a deal and received my batmo from MPD today. I already installed a W/M injection running 75W/25M. Was considering Casserly for injectors, too much $$$. I have Eric from IDP tunes now and will call him to get new ones when I have all my parts. Looking for a used intake to send to Doug at GoGo to have machined. AD will be ordered next week. I took pics when I did my mods but the memory card is crapping out on me, kinda pissed about that. After talking to Warren he thinks I may be over 500, like 525, but we'll see, gotta find a dyno in town.

Forgot to add, I am only pulling 12K a few times a year, and the dumb#$%# that get stuck in the snow around here in the winter. We get 4 inches and people start hittin the ditch, I don't get it.

I like where you're going with the build, sounds like you have your ducks in a row. I also just noticed you have w/m already. Good call on keeping the water high.

I like Doug and think he's a great guy, but don't expect to get that manifold back real quick, just so you know. I'm actually going to be trying to make my own, similar to how he does them. I'll let you know how that goes.

what are you having machined on this intake? are you having the egr removed or are you having the inside of the manifold machined out?

mike, If I could ever come up with a spare intake I believe I would already be started on making my own. right now I'm trying to figure out what it will cost to duplicate bullet proof diesels air cooled oil cooler.

Oh, and senior, nice build!!!

Thanks, it took me a more than a year to get this truck, and I'm plannin on keeping it for a while.

Both. GoGo Diesel puts out a Stage 1 intake, easier to send the link rather than type it out.

GoGoDiesel Stage 1 Intake Manifold w/ EGR Delete The only true performance intake manifold on the market for the 6.0L powerstroke. [GGD-6LSTG1] - $1,200.00 : Direct Injection Performance - GoGoDiesel.Com, Your Source For All Things Diesel!

Basically it allows more air to the rear cylinders.

I've already got a spare intake manifold...

Definitely going to give it a shot. I think I'm going to wait until I get my headgaskets in order first, get the truck running good, then do the intake after to see if I notice a difference. Supposed to help a ton. Luke, I'd love to make my own BPD oil cooler, but that fancy block they bolt on in place of the oil cooler... that's going to be hard to figure out without having one in front of me. I can wait anyways, I think the stock oil cooler should be just fine after my rebuild.

What kind of work am I looking at when I replace the injectors? I haven't started searching yet, but would like to read some sort of tech file on it. Does anybody know of of one off the top of their head. The plan is to start Thanksgiving week.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Any special tools?
