does a straight exhaust void warranty?? Does an 03 turbo bolt right on but no power difference?
Would like to do some mods but, im still on the fence due to the horror stories i keep hearing and reading.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Just read old thread and see warranty voids unless done by dealer..

You have to switch out the pedistal too, which is nothing. most people that sell an 03 turbo sell the pedistal with it. Delete Your EGR , throw on a straight pipe, and an sct with some custom tunes and you'll be amazed

You're nuts if you think everyone waits til warranty is up to do this stuff. Talk to your dealer, they may not even care. Some dealers will be thrilled you want to do an EGR delete, it will save them headaches down the road.

I'd bet 90% of the techs out there would have no clue you put an 03 turbo on in place of your stocker, unless they're familiar with the whistle! But by looking at it, with it mounted on the truck, I'd be truly impressed if they knew the difference.

The reason is when you run around smoking out every stop sign and Ricer you see. Others see it. They begin to look down upon it. They begin to regulate it. They begin to make laws that control what others can then do.

For instance, Say you smoke out that sweet hybrid...Who could be driving that hybrid? Possibly a state congressman? So now he goes to work and pushes for every diesel to have a cat and muffler as well as requirements to be emission tested once a year no matter what...

That would suck for most of us. At some point, it's time to start thinking about how your actions affect others.

Build your truck for power, not smoke. It's pretty pathetic when you have a smokey pig with no *****.

What's funny is that guy has a 6.7 Dodge. (and his name is coaltrain) One of the least receptive motors to emissions equipment. Seems like I remember Dodge running out of stock of DPF filters when they first came out due to them failing all the time. I believe the standard practice was to remove from truck, go behind garage, blast with pressure washer, reinstall, send customer along.

If you don't think tighter emissions has anything to do with how diesels have been perceived to the public eye over the last few decades, you're mistaken.

Now, I'm all for clean burning POWER, but seriously, it's easy to see some of this emissions equipment has put a serious hurting on motors.

All that aside. If this guy (the op's buddy) wants to mod his truck for 600hp and he happens to get smoke as a side effect of all of that, that's cool, it comes with the territory. This guy asked how to put a smoke switch on a stock turbo, thus making it slower. My main reason for telling him it's a bad idea is because he will wreck his turbo in no time. Is that a good enough reason? If you asked about putting a different air filter on your truck and someone said run no air filter and go drive through the desert with it, and I interjected and said "it's his truck, let him do what he wants" would you be happy?

Remember this is the same guy who said he had a twin turbo powerstroke with 70000hp... then when asked for some details and pictures produced a picture of someone elses truck...

Smoke is dumb. Kills us as an hobby.
