I've heard bad things about the lope idles for these 6.0's and 6.4's. Nothing good has ever come from it. They sure sound cool as heck though.

The coolant filter is a good start. I'd do an EGR delete package, and I think you should be pretty good for a while. I wouldn't worry about the headstuds until it pukes. With the EGR cooler gone and the coolant filter you've got a good foundation built to prevent the gaskets from blowing.

Fuel pressure gauge is probably the #1 important thing to put on a 6.0.

If you're getting injectors, no way. You're going to need studs. If you plan to go past anything more than a programmer, plan for headstuds now. What are your overall plans for this truck as far as what you want to do with it and how much power you want to make. That will help you decide on your parts. If you're going big you're going to need to start with headstuds (with proper install meaning the heads need to be decked and pressure checked), and you will want a fuel supply, so an Airdog 2 and the larger banjo bolts (from a 6.4 will work) and you should have a good foundation. Turbo/injectors are going to depend on your answers to your plans for the truck.

That COULD do it. It still will depend on what you want to use the truck for. Will you be towing at all? Or do you still plan to tow?

Banjo bolts are what bolt the fuel lines to the heads on these motors. It's the biggest restriction in the fuel system on the 6.0. They use a "check valve" instead of a hollow bolt there. I'm still not entirely sure why Ford did that, especially since they don't even function like a true check valve. (I know, I had to replace them with real check valves for my vegistroke). You can order the three hole bolts on ebay for about $25 shipped, or go to your local Ford dealer and get the 6.4 banjo bolts. It will open that passage up and allow fuel to go through a lot faster. I wouldn't buy into the fuel systems, an AD2 and those bolts should be all you need. A fuel pressure gauge will let you know if you need more or need something right now as well. Fuel pressure gauge is priceless on a 6.0. They should have them from the factory. Your turbo/injector choices boil down to what you are going to use the truck for and how much power you want. Now we know 1/2 of that equation...

At that power you will probably want some sort of upgraded transmission as well.

If you want 550-600 hp and still tow a trailer reliably, you're really going to want to get compounds. Take whatever you thought you were going to spend on this project and multiply by 3. That should be a relatively safe number haha.

Everyone may not agree with me, but the easiest solution I see to this, is a small injector upgrade, a turbo, and a bottle of spray. The turbo and the smaller injectors will make your truck still streetable and able to tow, and then the spray gets you to your 550-600hp with the ability to use it when you want. If you have the coin, compounds are the way to go though for fuel only numbers.

The banjo bolts are a good mod for even stock trucks. It's a pretty easy install to if you're doing it yourself, UNLESS you have dual alternators, then it's a PITA. Ask me how I know.

A ratcheting wrench is your friend with the banjo bolt install. If you don't have the dual alt's it will be pretty easy. Hard to mess up. If you find you're having troubles getting the new bolts lined up in the heads, loosen the fuel lines up on the fuel bowl, it will make it a lot easier. I've never had to, but have heard of people who had.
