Default this is a newbe question???

so i have a 05 powerstroke.... so what makes the race and non race trucks smoke before takeoff???Is it a restrictor plate or valve opening or what...does it hurt the engine or milage ???just wondering im new at this diesel thing...thanks

its the turbo spooling up, when you romp on it right at first there is nothing to burn the fuel cause these engines soul of power is the turbocharger, no boost= no power

Its caused by adding more fuel. Tuning, injectors,etc... Its unburnt fuel since the turbo hasnt spooled yet.

Oh yeah these trucks can do it especially with a Edge Juice or a SCT. My Edge smoked more than my SCT does but in the end I would rather have less smoke and the power of the SCT.

Just remember, until you reach the point where you have to be overfueled to make big power, smoke=wasted fuel and it sure doesn't equal more power

couldnt have said it better myself...smoke on a normal truck isnt the best thing (a little doesnt effect anything) but when ur sled pullin u better over fuel the sob
