can u blok off an egr vavle on a 6.0
Using my EGT gauge as a reference I drove the truck as normal to work, when I arrived I popped the hood to check the radiator temps. I then drove off again coming back to park and I checked the EGR cooler (not an easy target). I then drove off again to check the EGT gauge by targeting the manifold.
All this being said the EGR cooler was within 10* of the radiator and the manifold was within reasonable range (20-30*) of the EGT gauge. Being that the EGTs were over 350* when I stopped I expected to see the EGR cooler in the 200+* range and it wasn't.
Running a "sneaky pipe" myself with the EGR tuned out, I think the idea that there is a HUGE amount of heat transfer is just bunk. If you a sled pulling or racing there may be a higher transfer but I just don't think it happens to the extent people want to believe for us simple HP junkies.
I don't know all the specifics, science, or data behind it all. I just know that over on the other forum site I am on they say that it's more beneficial to do a full EGR delete instead of just an EGR blockoff. I haven't done research on it cause I'm not ready to do it. The guys talkin about it are pretty firm though in what they are saying about it.
HERE YA GO - DORMAN 555-025 FREEZE PLUG, AND TRACE THE FRONT COOLER EXIT ONTO A PIECE OF SHEET METAL AND ALSO GASKET MATERIAL, INSTALL ONTO COOLER AND PUT COOLER BACK ON. DEFEATS EGR BUT HAVEN'T HAD TIME TO FIGURE MONITOR OUT TO FOOL THE SES LT.
