What all do I need to intercool my 89. I have a intercooler from a 94 and all the piping but what else do I need to make that big thing fit. I'm new to first gens so please bare with me

 

ull most likely have to do something different with your grill. especially if you have a A/C cooler. its a pretty strait forward and easy ad on. cut your holes in the radiator support then line up tubes to cooler and mount it. i did it with some threaded rod.

 

What did you have to do to your grill to make it fit? I've heard you can get the front end off a 92 or 93 and it will fit perfect is this true? Thanks for ur help

 

No not exactly. You can trim down how far the center parts fit inwards. Ummm you can make a newer grille fit if you change the rad support over to one from a 91.5-93 but then your rad won't fit so you would need the top rad hose, rad, thermostat housing and so on. I installed an intercooled rad in my old 90 and it took some fab work to fit. So the rads are different.

 

for mine i just have 2 layers of wire mesh on it now. its kinda like a fine chicken wire. someday ill trim down the original grill to fit back on.
