No man. The fittings on the turbo itself unbolt. Or it worked for me

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

And if I was you I would be very eerie of that filter, I have seen them suck themselves in. Crazy stuff. I reclocked the intake and used the stock intake hose hooked up to a BHAF. I will get some pics of mine up later today

I was going to go with a VGT turbo but im curious now as to how this bolted up.

So the bolt patterns the same for this turbo as the stock turbo just you have to drill out the top two holes on the manifold flange? is the 351 t4 flange or still a t3?

And by shaving down the adapter for an hx40 do you mean just cut part of the end off cause it was too long or was the diameter wrong?

Thank you for this it helped me get a better visual on how to do mine,

The flange is wgmt, kinda between a t3 and t4. I drilled and tapped the exhst housing for 1/8" solid pipe plugs. Then I ground down the plugs flush and sanded it smooth. I used a t3 gasket to trace the new holes and redrilled using a drill press

I'll be doing this swap at some point after my H1C gives up the ghost. It's my understanding you can also un-bolt and clock the compressor housing to get a near-stock straight shot at the intercooler.

I used the he351ve (6.7), I guess I'm not sure about the flange on the he351cw. I love the vgt with the exhst brake. Also, when cruising down the hwy I can open up the vanes to free up the exhst for better mpg and lower exhst temps. And yes, both exhst housing and comp housings are v-band clamped so full clocking on both, but you have to remove the alignment pins first. Very easy with a pair of vise grips
