Default HELP!!! (TACH HOOK UP)

o.k. i hat to be the new guy that ask the dumb questions that im sure has been answered over and over again. but i have been cruising through here and havent found what i am looking for. i am wanting to hook up a tach, but dont know what to get the signal from. the catch is that i have a 1990 crew cab 1 ton 4x4 CHEVY, with a 92 12 valve cummins in it. some of the dodge ecm and harness is there, but it looks like a nightmare to sort through. the engine does have a crank sensor with 3 wires , but im not sure which one to hook to. everything i have found on here is talking about under the dash or the steering collum in a dodge. keep in mind that this is not a dodge. so any ideas????

I run an Isspro that picks up off of two magnets on the balancer. Works great!

Here is the link to my install.

Just do yourself a favor and buy the isspro tach pick up assembly that has 2 magnets that epoxy to the balencer on the front of the motor and the pick up that bolts to the oil pan bolt.

these links are what your after.
This is the tach. The pic shows a 3,000 rpm tach, but the part number is the 4,000 unit.

This. If the Dodge PCM isn't all there, just save yourself some headache and do it this way. Autometer also offers a similar kit.

the magnets/ pick-up has lasted over 15 years on my truck, good kit; pretty much bulletproof. only had to splice the pick-up wires when my gauge quit working. now i'm stuck with an autometer gauge that uses a pick-up strapped to the alternator, has to be calibrated

GO ISSPRO WITH THE MAGNETS AND YOU WILL LOVE THE SETUP. JUST BE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. THEY WILL SEND YOU 2 SETS OF DIRECTIONS AND THE ONE SET WILL SHORT OUT THE TACH. I GOT ALL MINE FROM GENO'S GARAGE.

I don't think the 90's have a crank sensor.
