Which is why I rebuilt the front end completely and decided to trash the factory steering components, because my trucks steering was awful!!!

Lol well, that's ford for
Ya. After all of this is done the truck should handle as well as a stocker maybe better, I don't expect too much with 6" of lift. I'm going to take it to an alignment shop and have them set those camber pins at the maximum amount of positive caster with .5* - 1.0* of negative camber. Should give me back my automatic steering return and should corner well. the wedges to bring pinion angle up killed my caster.

My truck had no sway bars, D-rated tires, and a stock pitman with 2" Skyjacker springs. With the bump steer, vague handling and poor shocks it was scary to drive. I actually considered it to be unsafe on the road.

More or less easy fixes, but that is the nature of this beast.

So, this is the uncontrolled path the truck took while trying to move the truck. The wife, kid and dog all decide to ride on the back of the truck while attempting this. Of course being one wheel peel and my front drive shaft too short I had to use momentum to my advantage hehehe everything assembled. Drag link just snugged up so I can get a proper adjustment after I get the truck aligned. and this is why I moved the truck, the back patio has a 2 foot retaining wall. I can work on the lower level

Now whats really cool is I cut my steering shaft right a the slip joint and robbed the splined portion for my new double jointed steering shaft. I cut the steering shaft about and inch above the rag joint this afternoon and wouldn't ya know it the splined shaft will slip right inside of it making
Installation a breeze, don't have to worry about centering it or anything. Just slide it in and weld around it I slipped the splined shaft into the rag joint end just for demonstration, when I actually weld the splines in I'll post a pic.

Do yourself a huge favor, your spending all this time and money by uprading you steering, ditch the rag joint...

Lol no worries Bobby, was just using the splined shaft slipped into the rag joint for demonstration that the steering shaft ID is the same as the splined shafts OD. Rag joint has been getting eliminated since day one of the build but as you can see; both ends of my new steering shaft are splined and there are no splines on the upper half of the steering shaft past the rag joint. Just conveniently the splines I robbed from the factory slip joint will slip right into the tube above where the rag joint is supposed to be.

Got the steering shaft in today, I tacked the steering brace in place so I knew where to heat and bend. Got it all welded up, it's a monster; that's for sure .
I decided to run a piece of angle iron down the length of it to act as a spine.
And this is what's holding my steering box to the side of the frame while the brace is removed

And I'm now stuck up at the retaining wall... One wheel peel and no front driveshaft ... The brace is in and it took a little of flex out; but there's still some. I snapped one of the steering box bolts while tightening everything up. I'm glad I got that trac bar in place... It's pushing my leaf springs side to side, unfortunately the frame flexes at my trac bar mount so now I have to brace it as well.
