Default No faith in the VE pump

Called a couple of diesel shops about a performance turbo. All they wanted to do was upgrade the hc1 turbo and recalibrate the pump.Hard to believe all that some of you guys are doing and the shops out there know nothing.
Still shopping for horse power.Have a great day.

add more fuel with the fuel screw! it will take the edge off. plus you could almost justify a new turbo then

go to dieselpowermag.com and look up project rust bucket, its a first gen turned up to a streetable 350-400 hp, they give you the list of parts, how much they paid and where they got them from. if that doesnt answer your question, call TST products, ask to speak with Mark and he'll set you in the right path. TST Products, Inc.

you have to remember that 1st gens are not "main stream" for the most part we have to make stuff from other applications work. We are the red headed step child of the diesel world. I dont know why... they are stupid easy to make power with and because they are so light (my 89 weighs 5,500 lbs w/o me) it does not take a whole lot of power to make the trucks rocketships. I love pissing off newer trucks in the old 89... Hell my 06 with the smarty on it cant keep up with the old 89.

my 1st gen with a 1/8 of a tank of fuel weights 5300 with me in it, im 330......and if i would of cleaned the truck completely out......probably total of 5K with me in it......ifi added some gear to it, it would probably smoke most stock or slightly modded newer truck.......especially when i get it done.......

Took a few minutes the other day and turned up the power screw.HOLY that little turbo shuts right up to 30lbs.(run out of gauge). Also the egts shut right up with it,1200.A bigger turbo and injectors,I'd bet the tarmack couldn't keep up the the rear tires.Cann't wait to do more & more & more.
