Their website was kinda poorly constructed, which bothers me.

I would stay with one of the more well known trans builders.
Goerends, DTT, HTS. Jegs also sells the BD trans stuff, that's where i got my BD VB.

There's two different "Phoenix Transmissions"...

From what I can tell, one of those companies is based in Texas and knows what they're doing. The other is based in Arizona, sells stuff on eBay and has lots of customer complaints.

yeah, you're right, Begle. Phoenix Transmissions out of Texas has an outstanding reputation for building auto transmissions that live behind big blocks, blowers and turbos in all kinds of different hot rod madness and abuse; have never done business with them but know several that have and are very happy with their work and money spent.

Last I knew they even mentioned on their website something about watching out for their imitator. Phoenix Remanufactured Transmissions aka Phoenix Hard Parts are the ones to watch out for.

Tranny is already making a weird noise at WOT and 20 lbs of boost. Sounds like when a piece of wood goes through a bandsaw, but it's very quiet.

that doesn't sound very good, I don't think transmissions are supposed to make bandsaw noises...does it feel like it's slipping or just making bad noise?

I dont think its slipping yet. Just making a strange noise at full boost. I wont be working the trans too hard from now on.
