Default suggestions for better mileage

Hi Guys,
I have just recently joined and am wondering if anyone out there have any advice how to improve mileage for a 1992 generation 1 motor with automatic transmission with 400,000 Kms with limited budget?
Regards

If you don't have an intake yet, I would do that. The better it can breathe. the more efficient it will run. Put your pump at the stock settings and keep your foot out of it, and you should see around 20's.

Default intake

Could you please explain to me by what you mean by changing the intake?
Is this the intake to the fender box which then runs to the air filter?
Thanking you in advance.
Regards Richard

The piece of tubing that runs from the inlet of the turbo to the right front corner of the fender. Its easy to make one out of pvc or any pipe really, remove the stock air box and run an aftermarket filter. It doesn't cost much and really helps the engine breathe!
