But computers have hard drives that the info is encoded on even after you "erase" it... I don't think that the computers in the trucks use a hard drive... more of a "flash" type system (Like a USB card). Once that is erased it is gone forever.

 

From what I've read the Smarty has very good track record, but I also read today that it may rest the load count, what ever that is. He also said the truck also the one truck he looked at had some other stuff done to it so this Dodge person will try to look in to it some more, that is if he can get a hold of another truck with the Smarty on it. He has also said that Cummins can find a lot more about programmers then Dodge if they were to send a copy of the ECM to them like they do from time to time when specific things go break or go wrong.
