Remote Start Woes

Makes me a little paranoid now (not really the guy that owns the shop I had mine done at kicks ***). My remote start/2 way paging alarm has been on the truck for about a week now I love it. No problems thus far--it took the shop awhile to get it ironed out and the the right setup for my truck though. They had to do a bit of calling around since they normally do powerstokes. It makes getting up at 5:30 in the morning a bit easier knowing I will have a warm truck to go out to if I leave the heater turned to on.

im interested in looking into a remote start for my new truck. my only issue has been that i cant seem to find a system (online) that specifies that it is for diesel and will cycle the glow plugs. i did the whole build your own system on the "Viper" website. but was not prompted at anytime for a diesel engine option. i havent spent much time looking but any links or further info on where i can get one would be great. thanks all.

Compustar has a pretty nice selection, and I've heard some pretty good things about them. Alot of their systems are diesel engine ready, manual transmission capatable, and even have a turbo timer if you want that kinda thing.

I agree with your advice on the compustar 901. I have been putting 2-3 in a day for the last couple of weeks now and no issues. Viper/Clifford is also a Good choice with many of the same options although the compustar has more range. If you go with the compustar make sure it is the pro series so you get the 2 year warranty on the remotes and lifetime on the brain.
All that being said, almost every starter out there these days has a diesel mode built in or a time delayed start option. 20-30 seconds will ensure that even at -30 the manifold heater he time to do its thing.
