Default odd injector tip question

So my truck(the 03 in my signature) started making a nasty knocking sound at idle when in gear, after i hauled a sorta heavy load over the mountains... But once the rpms go over 1200 it clears up...
So I took to a diesel mechanic and he did some tests and said #1 injector isn't working. It doesn't make sense to me cause i know what I sounds like and feels like after an injector quits cause my dads 06 had 3 injectors go out 3 different times(yeah I know we shoulda just replaced em ALL the first time) but anyway...
I told him ok so I guess i'll put a new one in, but I have to put the 25hp nozzle off my old injector on it first. I tried to put the tip on the new one but the new one has a stainless body and apparently when Bosch switched to stainless bodies they also changed the way the nozzle fits on.?.? SO........
Now I have to put one in with a stock tip and the rest have 25hp tips. cause I do not have the money to put all new ones in. Is that going to cause any problems????

Also when he took the #1 injector out the little plastic piece between the 2 little studs to put the wires on is missing. Mustve fell off. Would that cause any issues?????

sorry about the really long write up! Just a tad hard to describe.

Doesnt anyone have ANY ideas for me?

I also checked the valve lash, nothing wrong with that...
