Everything is a marketing gimmick to some extent. They run from absolutely true to pure horseshit. The air in fuel thing is closer to the latter.

basically i'd say if you're gonna modify the truck you need an airdog or some type of fuel pump that isn't stock

Fair enough. BS or not, I can conceptually see how that could affect the injector at those pressures. I would probably consider particulates in the fuel a huge issue too then right? So a 2-3 micron filter should at least "help" with the longevity then. Higher pressure=less life of my injectors, I think I get it. Thanks for all the help guys!

yeah the best filter for the stock housing in my opinion is the Baldwin PF7977 it's a 5 micron absolute rating

One thing to about about putting a lift pump on a diesel especially a common rail is the water separator. Water wreaks havoc on all diesel but is terrible on common rails. The water will actually blow the tip off the injectors.

correct me if i'm wrong but i heard airdog is going to stop offering the 2 micron filter and just have the 3 and the 10 available any input on this would be awesome

my 04.5 came stock with a water separator but i put a air dog on my also the us gov did some testing on them to run them on equipment the labs say they work said they did remove air and water
