All Jacked Up on Juice and Got an Attitude
Well, I finally got my Edge Juice/Attitude installed last night. I didn't get to start when I wanted to, so it was late when I got done. I took it out for a test drive about 11:15 last night and played with it. I'm running it on 3. I put it on 5 last night and romped on it -- the boost alert went off in about two seconds. I've got it set to 36. Is that too low? Or maybe I need to stay off of 5 if I'm going to put my foot in it?? It sure was a fun couple of seconds.
So, I thought I'd just throw this up for any words of wisdom and gotchas...
Thanks in advance!

A headgasket on my 12v started seeping after repeatedly running it around 40psi, and blew during a 60psi romp.
Did you install the adjustable boost elbow that came with the juice/att?
Not sure what turbo the 06's have, I ASSUME it's still some variation of the HX-35. While I haven't seen a map for your turbo, I would imagine that 36psi is about as high as you'd wanna go. I doubt that you'll have headgasket issues unless you start running it up in the mid 40's. Also at that point, you start running the RISK of grenading the turbo. You go much higher than 36psi, and I imagine your only problem will be that you are in the inefficient range of the turbo and will only be pumping hot air into the motor... possibly some performance loss, but no real danger.
yada yada... stay in the mid 30's max and enjoy the ride.

Here's what I had:
--Turbo Timer Cable
--EGT Thermocoupler/Connectors
--Data Link Cable
--Injector Connectors
--MAP Sensor Connectors
The guy that drilled and tapped my exhaust manifold for me said that the older trucks had several more connections for the j/a. Maybe mine shouldn't have one...

Mebbe. It SOUNDS like you don't need one. If you're already making 36psi of boost, I'd say you certainly don't need to force the wastegate to hold any tighter shut!! !!!
Hey, which Tough country bumper you got? I've been looking at the apache one. Do you like it? Post some pics of that thang... from the sig, I bet it's a hot looking rig. I REALLY MISS my 3rd gen... see pic...

I do have the Apache with pretty much all the fixin's. I really, really like it. I can hook you up with a company down in TX that was much cheaper than directly through Tough Country. Shoot me a PM if interested.
You read my mind about the pictures. I finally got my Daylighter Fog Lights in yesterday and that's what I was waiting on to take photos and post everywhere. I've had an ordering nightmare and finally just spelled it out to a local company exactly what I wanted.
I did the j/a install almost all by myself (I let the local diesel joint take care of drilling the exhaust manifold -- that scared me). I'm going to wait for njmaier to get back in town to do the KC light install. Something about drilling holes in my truck scares the poop out of me. A good cleaning and pictures will come then. Maybe by this time next week.

no boost elbow on the 600s (maybe all 3rd gens im not sure) but the 3rd gens use an electronic wastegate system. also your headgasket is fine up to 50psi or more. 3rd gens use a MLS (multi-layered steel) gasket that is very durable. with ARP studs the 3rd gens are good into the 70 psi range if the drive pressure is low from what i've heard.
as for the stock turbo, 36psi is fine, over 40 and you are not efficient, but I would set your alarm at 40, i dont think you have enough fuel to push it that far so you can still romp on it without the alarm going off. just beware that your tranny will hate you after awhile.

yeah, there ya go.. I was kinda thinking they might be electronic, but didn't wanna say for sure cause I didn't know. When I had my 3rd gen, I was a total newb. Now that I've been around them for a few years, I know quite a bit more, but only fool with P pumps and VP's.
Don't be scared of tapping that exhaust manifold. I was scared shaatless the first time I did one too. Just pay attention, get a tub of cheap grease that you can throw away and clean and re-grease your drill bit often.
