Default Smarty Jr. Tuned for MPG

I thought I would give everyone an update on trying the different variables for tuning the Smarty Jr. to increase fuel economy. I have tried all three hp settings with the various timing and tq management, and % of power over the last year. My best combination to-date is setting #3, with tq management and timing on level 4, and the % set at 20%. Driving down the highway unloaded at 65 mph (through some hills) I got my best fuel economy at 20.7 mpg (hand calculated). My in town driving is somewhere between 16.5-17.0 (hand calculated).

I am very pleased with this fuel economy as my of my best friends has a new 3/4 ton gas Chevy and he gets 10-12 in town and 14 on the highway unloaded.

Convinces me in getting a cummins.. Which HP setting do you have on it, since you cant go over 70hp or tranny will mess up.

I have 3.73 gears and am running it on the 100 hp setting, but at 50%. I have not had any problems with the tranny. In fact, it seems like it shifts better on this configuration. I am just happy that after all the changes I have done on the Jr. this past year that I finally found the one that will save me some money on diesel. The next test will be how it does on the mpg towing our 8,000 lbs camper. I will keep you posted.
