boost fooler?
#11
Some boxes and programmers have boost fooling built into the programming. For example, I know the Smarty and Quadzilla modules both boost fool. You have to boost fool if you plan on exceeding stock boost parameters or you will throw a code. This comes in handy when you upgrade to an aftermarket turbo that is capable of pushing 50 plus PSI. The Smarty changes the PCM programming to accept more boost and the module foolers trick the MAP sensor. Both will give you extra boost for EGT cooling.

for what it's worth the HE351's effective map range only extends to 38psi... after that your over boosting the turbo, spinning it too fast and it can actually do more harm than good when it comes to making power
Just remember that boost is a measure of restriction, a larger turbo will move more CFM and work less to do the same thing, so just cause you're getting 40psi if you go past 38psi you're not getting much more CFM, it's really gaining you nothing but extra heat and an overworked overspeed turbo

I had the Quadzilla on my 2007 for a while. It gave a power improvement and I saw higher boost pressure than stock with no codes. The truck was basically stock with an ebay exhaust and AFE intake. I sold it to a guy with a 2005 and he said it made his truck smoke and gave him a few more mpgs. I don't know how true that is other than I did see it smoke more than it used to.

Back when i had my stock hx35 on my truck i just clamped the wastegate line with a hose clamp. Now the key is to not over run your stock turbo like BriteWhiteRam said, just use your gauges and "tune" the clamp to about 38lbs and I ran it like that for almost two years until i got my thunder 330....
