I about did the same thing. I had just gotten inside from being cold all night at work and wanted to warm up but forgot to drop back to stock before I went inside. I almost put the REVO update on my smarty and remembered when I went to plug it into my comp. But I didnt know for sure If I had to turn it down to stock first either, I just didnt want to take the chance. I really don't like because of not taking a simple precaution.
