Default boost?

so i got my boost, egt, and trans temp gauges installed the other day and i noticed my boost is only getting to about 25 max and it seems like it backs off to 20-22 and holds? I have been really busy so i had a guy install it for me and after it was done i noticed he installed the boost probe on top of the intake horn? is this ok? could this also be why im not seeing more boost too. my old truck would boost to around 30 all the time so just wanting to know what you guys think. He said he has installed them there quite a bit and never had a problem but just wanting you guys opinion and if its ok why is my boost so low? any ideas or help is appreciated thanks

I dont think that the port in the intake would matter much or change your pressures any. I know that most gauges come with a boost bolt for the intake. As for your boost pressures I am only gettin 24psi for the most part if I get on it pretty good and that is with the wastegate plugged as well. I have checked for leaks through my intake system to make sure that i am not loosing boost. This might be somthing you might look in too if you havent pressure testing the Intake system.

The boost numbers should match the 05's, something is amiss.

I usually crimp the WG boost reference hose closed first and see if that brings the boost up. If it doesn't its a leak or defueling, if it does its an electronic problem.

At the base of that black cylinder with the electrical connection you should see a hose that runs towards the engine. It will connect to the WG acutator solenoid. It will be the only line you can see on the bottom of the turbo.

A small pair of vice grips works great.

It will tell you if its a boost leak or electronics. The electronics could be a lot of things from the MAP to the WG controller. Just gotta work on process of elimination.
