Default Changing muffler on stock exhaust

My truck has the factory exhaust still on it and I want to take the cat. converter out and put an aftermarket muffler on it. Is there a big truck muffler I can get from a truck parts store or what would be the easiest thing to do on a low budget.

Remove the stock muffler and install a full flow on it. Looking at around $300 for one (I prefer the Aeroturbine) and leave the Cat. Don't gain much power w/ it on anyway and it's not as restrictive as the stock muffler.

At $300 I could put a little more with it and get another complete system. What will I have to do to get a straight through muffler to line up right?

Just leave the cat on and take the muffler off, alot better sound and better flow.

I put a MBRP flow through muffler on and love it. That being said, I tow a 9,000 lbs camper and when I accelerate it is about as loud as I would ever want it. I don't know how you guys with a straight pipe do it, too loud for me.

Did you leave the cat on or did you remove it. I noticed the stock muffler's inlet and outlet are offset, How did you line up the MBRP. I pull a horse trailer and dont really want it loud but want a little better flowing exhaust.

If I remove the muffler and keep the cat, How loud will this be?

I left the cat on. From what I have read, if your state already has inspections or will be going to inspections, without the cat it will not pass. What I got was the cat back exhaust with 5" tip. Like I said, I love it, but personally, I would not want anything any louder.

I took the stock muffler and cat off, put a Magnaflow and a strait piece of 4" on it. I've had no problems with the state inspection but it could just be the place I go too...

Cat has 2% +- restriction Muffler has 80%-+ so ive read I left my cat and put a freeflow style on it and could tell the diffrence night and day.
