programers how do they work
is all the power made by the injection pump or do other things come in to play like if I have my smarty set on 90 hp and then go to 130 or 170 what is in danger beside's my tranny will this also effect my turbo I would just like to know moore about it ......
Generally speaking most of them work by re-writing your ECM controls. They tell your Injector pump to supply more fuel and change the timing at which that fuel is delivered to the injectors. This is a very simplified explanation.
The biggest danger to using these chips is the Exhaust Temps. The water temp that is shown on your stock guages can read completely normal at the same time your melting your piston into molten metal. This is why it is imperative that you watch the Pyro guage close anytime you are using a chip. Anything that adds HP also adds addtional heat.
This additional heat is the reason for larger exhaust, bigger air intakes and larger turbo's along with some other items that help compenstae for that addional heat buildup. They help move the heat out quicker and keep fresh cooler air inside the engine.
Hope that helps to answer you questions.
