Default Bye bye cat

I just finished removing the cat from the truck, replacing it with a piece of pipe. So now it is truly a straight pipe. Sounds great in the garage, now to take it for a test drive.

Has anyone else that has done this, found that it changed EGT temps or changed fuel milage?

I just stuck the Cat back in my truck and there wasn't a change in performance.

I took it for a short test drive this morning to breakfast. It sounds a little louder all the time but a lot louder when you get next to something on the tailpipe side. I didn't get on the highway to really check out egts at speed, but they seemed close to the same as before in town. I did notice that it smokes easier than before without really getting on it at all.

i actually felt like i lost a little power in the pant-o-meter when i took my stock muffler off.. but when i took my cat off i gained like 2-4 mpg didnt really feel like i gained any hp removing the cat...

I did that and went all open for about 2 weeks then I had to muffle it some so I put a Magnaflow on it. I don't know if it helped anything or not b/c I only had the truck for a week before I did it....but I sure do like the way it sounds now

mine was "pre straight piped" when i got it, so i don't know how it ran with a cat and muffler, but i really like it without anything on, and it seems to be going strong around 70,000 now and no problems
