Intake Horn/High Ram
#13
with just a normal single intake i say there is no difference, i had the AFE blade runner for about a month then my brother stole it off my truck i noticed nothing, i then built my own out of 3" exhaust pipe, noticed nothing other than it looked cooler than hell under the hood, now im building a twin ram intake to equal out the air flow to all cilindars

I hear they help the bottom end of the CR trucks. I have not seen a dyno in person but have seen them online and they do back up that claim. (as I type this I am trying to remember what site I saw the shoot out. Al the aftermarket intake horns were very close I remember.) I am interested in the CFM+ horn, just find one that is a good deal in your area, and has been discussed they dress up the engine to boot!

Banks High-Ram on CR
I personally have the Banks High-Ram Intake on my '06 MegaCab. The same day I put on the AirAid with Modular Intake Tube. Between the two I noticed a pretty big power gain and the fuel increase was pretty substantial. About 2-3 MPG. The two paid for themselves as I bought them for a relocation trip that the U.S. Army was nice enough to finally give me. From Ft. Rucker, Alabama to Ft. Wainwringt, Alaska. Even at 22,620 pounds rolling weight I averaged 15 MPG. Sure, it hit 10 at times climbing the mountains in Western Canada, but averaged 15. I can't say for sure which one gave me the most power and fuel mileage increase, but a diesel tech friend of mine up here says that the intake manifold does more to a stock filter than a cold air intake does to a stock manifold. He's been right about everything else thus far, so I'll regurgitate his info without qualification.
You would not believe how cold a cold air intake gets at -60 degrees. In the winter up here we lose about 3-4 MPG just because nothing likes to combust at -60. Especially diesel! I drove from home to post and decided to close my last flap on my grill cover so I could get some better cabin heat. When I opened the hood and grabbed the vinyl backed cloth, it broke like glass! Thus, an intake heater delete is something that we never even consider!

I am also looking at replacing the intake. I was considering the Wilson Thrasher Intake made by Wilson Manifolds until I found out that delete the heating element when you replace the plate that comes with the intake, if you are in a warm climate its ok but I am in NE Ohio. My next choice is Banks and I can just go to Summit to get it!

Wilson Way To Go
Guys there is power waiting, just add air. 1000 mile tow, 11,000lb 32ft Trailer.
Vegas To Avenal Ca. & back the log way. Did this same trip in Feb. wished I had more power for hills. Awsome addition Baker Grade at 70mph OD off!!! was 55 tops before.
Power gains throught the rpm whole range even WOT. Mileage gains min. 8% but we drove hard, I imagine a Sunday easy driving style would give you more mpg.
I would say adding fuel also WOW!!! Anybody Towing needs this upgrade to put the icing on the cake.
Yes it's worth the $460 cumminsperformanceparts.com
Have Fun
