Intake Horn/High Ram
 

I have searched for bout 15 mins trying to find if this question has already been asked and couldnt find anything so here is my question..

I am curious as to if it is worth putting an intake horn (also heard it called a high ram) on my 04.5.. My friends dad has an 06 5.9 6sp with just 4" duals Juice with Att., and he put a Banks High Ram on his truck and he said that it made a big difference on bottom end.. But then my friend has a 99 24v bigger turbo, injectors, FASS 150 Edge Comp Box and he said his AFE blade runner didnt make much difference... Just kind of curious of what you guys that have them installed on a CR think?

I have heard mixed reviews...

But they do dress up under the hood a bit.

Most people I know that have them tell me they didn't notice much of a difference.

Most of my customers say that they seem to help the CR trucks more than the VP44 truck. But I have not seen any dyno results to back this up.

i have the ats one and like it very much ! i noticed a drop of 2 psi boost with the install , which means more flow less pressure thats what you want ! , i also dropped 2 inches with the ATS exhaust manifold :choochoo:

interesting thread, i think you're gonna hear mixed reviews on this, if you do one i'd do a grid heater delete if you can too, if you can't to a grid heater delete because of weather i don't think it's gonna make much if any difference, that's just my .02

I don't know about a difference. Like others, I have heard mixed reviews. But, if you are planning on adding things like water/meth, NOX, or even boost gauge, most of the aftermarket intake horns have pre-tapped ports. Would make adding those things much easier.

unless you have a California version 2nd gen 12v that's necked down to a 1" venturi to help draw in more hot soot (EGR), then the intake horns don't help all that much. I speculate that more CR guys notice them than anyone else (excluding commiefornia EGR 12v's) because they typically rev higher.

unless you're going for an all out competition race truck, leave the grid heaters alone; from what I've found so far, they really don't restrict that much air.

i live in missouri. here in the last couple weeks it has gotten pretty cold (to me atleast) average night temps are around 15-20 there was one night that got down to ZERO but.. if it starts getting down in those temps, i usually plug it in.. i would like to keep the grid heater in there, just incase i am somewhere where gets cold and cant get it plugged in.. what are the better brands?? i see you can get a Banks High Ram for about 299 right now.. but here alot about the CFM+.. After reading that post about ATS, im not buying any of their products so that throws them out of the view

This is my daily driver, not getting too crazy with it.. probably going to just keep it simple (chip exhuast intake) i am going to be pulling buddies to truck pulls is about all so..
