partial head studs???
i was wondering has any body done partial head studs.
if so can you explain why you would do that.
i was told by a diesel shop that you can do partial head studs and really don't understand why you would want to do that
so feel me in if some one has done this and if so were do you put the studs??

Don't bother, you're gonna pay to have them done, you might as well spend the money for all of them. The theory is that if you stud the head closest to the cylinders, you won't need to stud the rest of it. My theory is that if you do that you're gonna put uneven pressure on the head and crack it. My last head cracked due to crappy service from Cummins NE, they never torqued the head...

partial wth is that?? I wouldn't let that shop work on my truck.... WOW... Man I would love to go with you to that shop and have them explain that... THey don't even sell partial boxes of studs??? WOW... I am just flabbergasted at that... Do it right and do them all at the most it takes 4 hours starting from start to finish... I had my motor town down completely in an hour... and that was being as **** as possible I had every nut and bolt labeled cleaned and set in it's on little zip loc baggy...
