Maybe I'm just an "average Joe?"

No, I think not. I spent all day yesterday rebuilding my valve body with a Transgo SK 48-RE shift kit. Best bang for the buck ever: $70. I don't have alot of time (or money) to fart around, so when I do, I try to make it count. Fiddling around with tunes is a waste if time. For me, at least.

If you think a few horsepower here or some useless data there is worth the money, by all means, go for it.

It's just another example of the marketing machine raking in your heard-earned dollars.
just cant keep from opening your mouth and proving your ignorance can you, keep on thinking that this...

95% fuel at 0.0psi...kinda like taking the afc off of a ppump but that's a different subject.

or you could have boost maps that look like this...

but what do I know, i'm not a right smart diesel tuner dude like you are with your smarty jr....care to take a guess what tuner that boost map came from?

How is EFI Live overpriced when its cheaper than a Smarty???

It's good your Smarty Jr works for you but some people want more than 100hp out of a tuner. Can the Smarty Jr change parameters to compensate for larger injectors? Larger CP3? Larger Turbo?

Why do you keep wasting our and the OP's time posting this crap when the thread topic is about a guy on a tight budget?

Oh, I remember now: You like to waste your time tinkering with tunes.

If that's what blows your skirt up, by all means, go for it!

Because the OP has an ideal candidate for EFI Live.

"Ideal candidate?"

Riiiiight.

EFI Live is all about trial and error. Why else all the frequent changes/updates referring to all that data you are logging?

Are you people for real?

Its not trial and error its log and tune. If you know how to read the data then the changes are calculated not shots in the dark like picking a number 1-9 for duration or 1-4 for timing and rail pressure.

Pick up last years issue of diesel power mag that covered the TS race. In the article it takes about 2 trucks that were Dyno tuned that day. One of them was a truck I was tuning on. 3 pulls we picked up 12hp per pull never went backwards on power just picked up 36 rwhp on 35" tires with very minor changes to timing and duration.

No other tuner on the market offers the fine tuning ability of efi live you can not argue that point.

Is it for everyone no. Is it more expensive no. If you don't want it on your truck we don't care. We are simply correcting your false information to the OP.

The only person here wasting anybody's time is you by bashing a product with false information. If you have nothing more to add then you know where the door is.

Obviously it is not for the OP, so why do you keep posting in this thread?

Can't find the door?

And we showed him that efi could be had in his budget but its hard to beat free and it was after this that you started your bashing.

Now who can't find the door?
