Need help with new clutch and trans questions
Hi guys I have a question about clutchs and the NV5600 trans on a 2001 dodge.
I need a new clutch but money is tight right now, so for that reason I was considering the Valairs. My old clutch was Hasley street puller dual disk. I have a slightly larger turbo and injectors and no other mods. I tow very very little, but use my truck to go up and dirt and mountain trails to my hunting grounds. So out of this:
1. Valair clutchs I read mixed reviews what to you think?
1a. Can I use the old fly wheel if its surfacealbe?
2. What kind of clutch should I get for good street manners?
3. I think my old clutch was dragging, how do you adjust the cluch on the dodge?
4. The input shaft on my nv5600 has a bit of end play (up/down, left/right) is that normal? Considering the end isn't supported by the polit bearing.

Play in the shaft is bad. That means there is no preload in the trans bearings which will cause them to pit. The clutch, I don't think u can use Ur daul disk flywheel for any single disc. Not sure about using it with a different dul disk. I'd say vlair is as good as any other aftermarket clutch.
Is your old clutch slipping? U mentioned a dragging, do u mean its hard to get in gear if Ur sitting still with the engine running? If that is the case u may not need a clutch, but rather some attention to the hydraulics (master and slave cyl).

I may be interested in giving u a few bucks for Ur old clutch. Where r u located?

i bought the valair clutch and i love it i had a stock clutch befor and could not belive how much power i lost through the stock one. i have mine for a year now and it is great i got the kevlar and ceramic clutch... i wish i would have saved the money and got the ceramic to ceramic that was higher torqe and hp.... the kevlar and ceramic dont slip like the stock clutch it will shake the truck a little on tack offs but it aint that bad unless you are at a coplete stop with no trailer if you have a little wieght on your truck though it takes off smoth as combee it just grabs and goes if you want though!!
