Default Who Is Currently Running Edge COMP/Smarty Stack...

Hey guys, im getting ready to buy a smarty here, and i am just kinda curious as to just how much the smarty will effect my truck with the COMP box on it. I have used a smarty by itself, and i had good results, however i didnt really have it long enough to really evaluate it with my truck. So now im asking you guys, the owners of this stack, how you like it.

Basically, what id like to know is these things:
  • Pros
  • Cons
  • Fuel mieage gains/drops
  • Power output on various levels
  • Does smarty help or hurt power with COMP on
  • What level do you run smarty and comp on
  • Do you recommend this stack to another Cummins owner?
  • Are there other stacks that i could look into that will make more power

Thats all i can really think of for right now, however, if you have other info please feel free to give me that as well.

It's a good stack. As far as power I couldn't tell ya. I know I like it but I would also run some injectors with it. I started with rv275's then went to 150's now I run 200hp sticks. The smarty is a very nice unit but to tell ya the truth I already had the Mad ecm and should have just stayed with that because I run basically the same setting on the smarty as the ecm. I'm waiting to get a hold of the new quad box. I want to hear some more feedback on that one but sounds very promising. You might want to hold up for a bit too.

Basically, what id like to know is these things:
  • Pros - More HP/TQ for sure. quickier out of the hole.
  • Cons - You got to upgrade your trans/clutch
  • Fuel mieage gains/drops - Unknown.
  • Power output on various levels - I know its better than 400+ HP
  • Does smarty help or hurt power with COMP on - Helps...
  • What level do you run smarty and comp on - 8 Smarty (No timing) and 4x4 on the Comp.
  • Do you recommend this stack to another Cummins owner? - Only if he's got a solid trans/clutch, gauges, and good fuel system.
  • Are there other stacks that i could look into that will make more power - Smarty & TST or Smarty & Blue Chip
Thats all i can really think of for right now, however, if you have other info please feel free to give me that as well.
I got to barrow Bob Wagners Smarty for a short time and it was a huge change in power stacked against the Edge Comp. But you always got to run a non timing setting on the Smarty...

yup, i know about running even numbers for no added timing. I was just kinda wondering like what would happen if you put the comp on like 1x1 and smarty in fuel saving mode if that would help or hurt things just stuff like that

You would have to turn the Edge Comp off... The Fuel saver mode in Smarty is a very heavy timing advancement but no additional fuel from what I've been told.

You get alot of power, but heavy surging. I get a TON of heat as well, but it runs hot with running only the smarty or running only the comp.

I wouldn't run the Smarty past #4 or #6, you loose alot of upper end with you run the Smarty on the higher settings with another box. I got an Edge EZ and Smarty right now and its staying on #4. I plan to stack those with a TST PM3 Comp.

We had a edge comp with a smarty stacked on the dyno about two weeks. This truck also had a set of 150 tip and a stock charger. With the edge alone it made 411 with the smarty on 9 it made 418. With the smarty on 6 it made 423 and with the smarty on 4 it made 420. This truck might make a little more power it had a dieing VP so we will have to wait and see.
