Default Steppin' Up The Fuel System

Well it looks like the Hogg Innovations fuel system is going into version 2.0 this long weekend. Unfortunately it takes precedence over the High Idle box for now because my holley pump just died on me.

Can't complain a whole lot about the holley, it lasted about a year at 18psi.

Ordered a wabro 392, aeromotive boost reference regulator, and one of those nifty fill pipe return line doo dads. May or may not use the boost reference feature as I'm concerned with it rising on a 1:1 ratio it may produce too much fuel pressure (thought you'd never hear that on a vp truck did you!!!) when the charger lights. Donno, will have to do a bit of testing to find out for sure. I'll take pix and keep yall posted.

Well I found the failure in the holley, one of the magnets in the motor broke off and was locking up the motor. Of course, it died completely INSIDE AK, but my dad came to the rescue and helped get me going with parts from an old pump I had laying around, so it will last a day or two untill I get my walbro and I can drive the ol lady's blazer until then.

The thing thats got me wondering is how long the magnet was broke off and how much of it got ground up and is now in my fuel system. Hopefully the stock filter did its job. Going to fix that with stand-alone filters from NAPA on the new system....

Never been inside a Holley pump, but on the couple of pumps I've dissected the coils and magnets were kept seperate from fuel flow. I had this same magnet thing happen with one of my pumps and I never thought about it mixing in the fuel until I read this and you got me paranoid. Then I remembered it was sealed from fuel.

Thanks

The fuel is separate from the motor, but some of those particles MUST have gone down through the bushing because it was darn near locked up.

I had put a JD filter on my truck then realized the ports were too freakin small and went back to the stock FF with 3/8 fittings tapped into the housing. On my buddy's tuck we used a dual head setup from fleetguard. It works well but I am understanding that its not best to push through a water separator. So I am going with individual filters from NAPA, 15 micron w/s before the pump and 2 micron final before the VP. I'll take pix and make a write up when its done.

Oh and the cost? Got FASS beat by over $200 so far...
