Default Which Pump to Choose...

My VP has gone up on me and I am saving money to get a new pump on it. Ive searched the forums on here and I know that if I am going with a factory replacement to go with the SO instead of the HO. But I was wondering if I should go with a modified pump. I plan on doing larger injectors and twins in the future and other supporting mods.

Questions:

What Pump? (Monster, Hot Rod, Lightining)
Can I run a modified pump with my current setup? (Check Sig.)
Is it truly worth the extra money?
Does it make my goal easier to achieve?
Would i need larger injector lines?

Horse Power Goal of about 700 on fuel.

Thanks

SO pump will in the long run give the most HP. Its been proven on the dyno.
Not worth the extra money for the monster, hot rod,lightning..
No need for larger injector lines.Larger lines=lope

No need to go to big for the VP, you can get more HP out of a SO pump. Word of advice, dont do what i did and throw all this money into fuel and not have a tranny.... do essentials first. But if u really want to add some fuel, SO pump, .093 lines and feeders to 250's, that would be enough fuel a big set of twins to get to that 700hp mark

I completely agree with you about the trans before getting the big power but I have to put a pump on as soon as possible thats why i was wondering about what i should do. Thank god my tranny is still solid and tows my 24ft car trailer fully loaded like a dream and it has over 60,000 chipped miles on it. Twins and Injectors probably wont be on for atleast another year. Thanks for your reply.

700HP on fuel alone, eh? That's a pretty big goal.

Especially if your just using it as a DD and towing your car trailer. Which im only assuming. Why not shoot for 550hp. Which can reasonably be accomplished and a 100 shot of nitrous for when you need it. I think a 100 shot is still reasonable as well.

Thats right up on the SO pumps limit isnt it?

What about a Dragonfire pump of II, truck puller guys use them dont they? I dont think it would like towing but a DD maybe, and I'm sure they dont have much of a like expectancy.

I agree with this. I was pretty darn close to 700hp fuel only so pump. it's a waste of money for a hrvp or any of those pumps. the dragonfire is not worth the money. a monster pump will make power but they are not reliable. I believe if I would of went up a step on my bottom charger I could of hit 700. larger injector lines are a waste of time and money. they add 0
