Default Turbo upgrade question? hx35/40 hybrid

I found a kit that mods my existing hx 35 into a 35/40 hybrid. How hard is it to replace the compressor wheel and housing? Plus I have a hight mileage turbo. Will it live?

Its not as simple as just throwing the two togather. First you will need to remove all the internals of the existing turbo. Then you need to measure the exducer of the stock compressor wheel adn then measure the machined surface that the factory wheel sits in the backing plate to see how much it is the spaced away from the plate. Then you will need to measure exducer of the new 60mm compressor wheel and add the space that the factory wheel had and take it to the machine shop to have the backing plate machined for the 60mm wheel. then you can rebuild the turbo with new bearings, thrust washer, and seals and install the new wheel and housing, but your still not done. If you want this turbo to last, it will need to be properly balanced.

This can actually prolly cost more than to send your to HTTurbo.com and have them rebuild it and install the upgrade. Last time I checked it cost around $700.

Id rather look into get a s300 instead of moding your hx35. When we did a buddies, with the price of the kit and and machining it was like $640!!! Save that money plus the money u get back from selling your hx35 and get a s300 62 or 64mm
