Normally your truck will lockup the converter in third and OD, but will unlock fairly quick with pedal movement, brakes, or just slowing down.

The switch make the truck want to stay locked all the time in 2nd-OD and will NOT downshift, sometimes if you go WOT the tranny will kickdown anyways but the converter stays locked.

It can get you some more fuel mileage in town but it dont do much for highway driving because its locked in anyways. I think its very handy for towing heavy stuff, it keeps the trans temps WAY lower, and lets you load the motor harder.

You just have to remember to turn it off before you slow down or the truck will buck pretty bad or do what I do, just shut the swich off when the truck would normally have the converter locked anyway (between 40-50mph) depending on the gearing, then you dont have to worry about forgeting when a red light jumps out at you.

I would not recommend torque converter locked shifts on a stock transmission.

If you lock it from a stop and take off, it will shift very hard, and sooner than normal shifts keeping the rpm's low. It's actually convenient if you have a built trans because it holds the truck in the peak horsepower range during acceleration and can take some significant time off your 0-60 or 1/4 mile times. BUT, if you don't have a built trans with billet shafts it's really not a good idea as it shifts very hard and can easily shear a shaft. I love my switch and I recommend it, just be smart with it

its not stock. shift kit. billets input output. 3 disc converter. high energy pads. and upgraded valve body. it shifts hard already

You'd be ok in theory to throw one on. I'd do it

Not without some billet shafts, eh?

Our built tranny has stock shafts and it seems to be holding up, granted we dont beat it EVERY day but I'm definently not afraid to work it hard.

That little switch makes it a bunch of fun to drive
