A VP is a model of injection pump that one may have on a 98.5 to 2002 Dodge. A CR is a common rail cummins because it has a CP3 Injection pump with a fuel rail. It is found on 2003 and later Cummins.

If you want to stick with Smarty it's your only option. If you want more power with gauges you've got some other options. You could go with an Edge Juice With Attitude with Hot unlock, I think you're looking at about 140 HP. Another option is a Quadzilla Adrenaline with PCM, this makes about 180 HP on top setting. It all depends on the brand you want or what you're looking for in performance and options.

The only reason i was leaning towards Smarty is because i've heard they were really safe, motor wise... Any advise or suggestions? Thanks

On a 2nd gen 24v id go with a smarty sr. for top end and a quazilla adrenaline with pulse for bottom end torque. Combine those and youll have a beast if your trans can handle it...

My quad doesn't do much for my truck under 2,000 rpm not sure why, It seems to really take off from there, maybe the fueling curve?

Had an 01 and it was an amazing stack. I loved it, but if you dont have the trans to back it up then beware, itll start slipping the first time you turn em on
