Can it correct for mechanical advance allowing, a higher total static advance, or is it limited like the rest of the boxes. I love my edge, but really want something that will let me get into the 30*+ range on timing. I really think that is a major hold back for the VP trucks. If you need any more or different beta testing, I am always down to road test, race or slap it on my dyno. I really like the 50 state fact as CA sucks for that. If I can get a 50state legal box that puts down numbers like my comp, I may be all about that.

Dude not to be a jerk, but you need to start your own thread and not thread jack this thread with an unrelated commentary on your personal rig and what you've done to it and asking people to guess your hp.

Im not exactly sure on what the timing limitations are. I know when we first tested it, we were timing way too much, fine on the lower levels and lower RPMS but as we built boost, it would shutter and shut the truck down. That has since been fixed by adjusting the total timing vs rpm ratio a tad, what exactly the engineers did, Im not sure and wont venture an uninformed guess. But yes stockton, you are right, timing really does hinder the VP trucks, thats why we went with a progressive timing setup. I will add this, I ran an edge drag comp for a year, sold it, then went to a edge juice(which was junk even brand new from the box, i had 2 out of 3 fry themselves), with my modded truck in my sig, the comp made 449.6 hp and 1050ish ft lbs, the juice with hot unlock on my truck made 463 hp and right at 1100 ft lbs, which i was surprised that juice made more than the comp; with the tst box, I broke a very hot(EGT wise) 500hp and just under 1200 ft lbs.

i did try a buddy's ADR once but I had trouble with surging and the truck shutting down, now this was right after the ADRs came out and the tunes were limited and I forget what i did make with it once we adjusted some tunes that were reccomended on here. So Im fairly pleased with this box. We've been working on this box now for 2 years in testing and Im excited to see it come out and see what the response is.

As for the 2002 model year, I know something is in the planning stages for the 02s after we get this one and the newer models finished but as to what it will be, Im not sure. Honestly, we've not had that much of a demand for anything 02, why, i don't know

So did you guys ever try any stacking combos? Cause we all know that somebody is going to want to stack this with something, just wonder if you did any tests to see how it responds to stacking. Also does it make usable power or is it all top end looking for big numbers? My smarty may not make the most peak power, but it is very usable off-idle power. I don't want to have to rev the snot out of my truck to have power.

exactly, we did stack it with a couple combos, seemed to respond fine, just gotta watched your egts and what level you are on. Keep in mind though that while the box will respond pretty good with it stacked, since it already has timing built in, that there is only so far the the timing sleeve inside the VP44 will move before it locks up and causes a shuttering effect and on top of that, the VP44 can only time and fuel so much and this box is close to the max you'll see from tapping into the VP44 itself and playing with timing and fueling. Not saying it wont work, not saying it will work best either, So for those that will stack it, be sure to play around with different levels and see where the truck seems to respond the best. I have not heard Mark's official stance on stacking this box with another at this time, but ill find out and let you know.

As far as off idle usable power, yes it does very well, much better than some of the boxes Ive ran. as you can tell from the graph, torque rose very quickly and pretty much stayed there. The best torque numbers were at around 1700 rpms, which is very close to where the factory peak torque is just a lot more of it. Horsepower rose as well off idle, just not as steeply as the torque. Torque is what one looks for in terms of use ability, it is what gets you moving. In fact, some automotive experts claim that torque is the most important number. My opinion is that if the peak numbers for torque come in over 2000 rpms, than its worthless. Mark is of the same opinion so this box was designed for throttle response and low end torque while being able to fuel and time enough to get some big time numbers.
I personally road tested this box in the real world aka real world driving conditions. I did a 600 mile tow pull with a 29 ft 5th wheel camper, definitely noticed an improvement with throttle response and MPG as well.

With the way this box is set up, you as the individual owner have some presets that you can program in to limit the functions of the box. The first and probably most commonly used feature will be the ability to chose the level (amount of power you want), for towing because of EGTS, I ran level 2 and 3. There are 10 levels, 0-9, 9 being the insane power level. All of these levels are on the fly switchable, in other words, the driver can increase or decrease the levels while driving down the road if needed based on what he/she wants at that time. With the controler, you can set an EGT limit so if your EGTS get to say 1250 degrees, the box will automatically back down the fuel and timing to allow the EGTs to stay at a safe level. There is also an oil temp safety and a few others.

I'm still itching to hear about options. Turbo timer, backdowns, cold engine protection, etc. I'm pretty sure i am NOT a candidate for testing, although I sure would like to.

I have an old Palm Pilot sitting around that I would like to use for this. It is a Palm M130 color screen & they are cheap on eBay. Will this be available as software for the Palm Pilot, or will a separate box be required?

If you need on road Beta testing I'm available, very stock vehicle.
