Default Exaust noise stock vs aftermarcket.

My land lord came by today complaining that my 99 with a bed stack sounds like a semi truck LOL! Anyway, He wants me to make my truck quiet. Not less noisey, QUIET! Im wondering what the difference between stock and a flow through muffler with stack is. I bought it with a stack but I have never heard a quiet mid 90s cummins.

well it will be a whole lot quieter. You could put your muffler on and still leave the stack if you wanted

Not much you can do there, they are all loud. With stacks it might be the only quietest deal because all the sound is going up.

now that he has the noise on his mind you prob wont ever be able to satisfy him. a muffler will make it better but not quiet.

f him...well not if you wanna stay there but whats the big deal. do you sit in the lot and hit the throttle a million times? if not then there is not a whole lot he can do. unless he is a complete di** then i dont think he will kick you out and loose his rent just bc your truck is a little louder then the neighbors hyundai sonata. if it was me hell i would move w/o question if he kicked me out. maybe next time you can ask him if he can quiet down his grand caravan haha

If there is not a local noise ordinance there is not much a landlord can to to evict a tenant. Even with that its not much of a leg to stand on...but I digress; a 24 valve Cummins is a NOISY engine. Not much that you can do about it, and like the other fellow said, with a stack, all the exhaust resonance is going up, with that it annoys the least amount of people...hopefully the landlord doesn't live on the second floor...
