Not trying to be a smartass, but if you're not mechanically inclined, it might save you money in the long run to pay somebody to do it

that line on the tank can be a real bitch without the proper tools. I know mine took me a while. so it's not always about mechanical ability, but the issues of first time doing something.

Thats the best way to learn is not being afraid of doing it yourself... You'll save money in the long run if you can fix and work on and modify your truck yourself. Having someone else do it will never help you in the long run..

I agree with what you're saying Rattler, thats why I said I wasn't being a smartass and IF you're not MI . I'm definitly not a master mechanic and have learned a TON from this site Including your threads and I don't know a thing about the ability of the OP, but I've ran across people who couldn't operate a screwdriver, also I don't know a thing about a VP other than what I've read on here and the main thing I've read is there not friendly to being run without fuel pressure. My apologies if I offended anyone. BTW I'm getting ready to do the timeing on my 12 valve, what did you set yours at ?

Id consider myself pretty well inclined, out of ever vehicle I've owned I've always done all the repairs myself including my parents vehicles since I turned 16. Others I've worked with would probably say the same too, there was one time I haven't done a repair on my own and that was when I first got my jeep when it needed brake work done and I didn't have anywhere to work at the time so my parents insisted that it be done by a brake shop. Other than that I've always done everything myself. As for this its my first time doing anything like this so I kind of had to go by process of error to figure out how to do everything. I know how to bleed the system, I knew how to run wiring, I've done quite a bit on this truck considering how long I've had it. As for the issue with getting the pump bled I figured out the problem, I also talked to tony at mighty diesel where I bought it and we found that the pump just needs primed most likely and that's why its not pulling fuel, so he told me a procedure that I'm going to try today as soon as I have an extra set of hands available. He told me sometimes the pumps have an issue pulling fuel for the first time because its trying to pull out the air and isn't getting enough fuel to circulate like it should, so I'm going to try his method and we'll see what happens.

So you're good to go? If not, let me know. I'm in Cheyenne and just did a DS I and Raptor. It sucked and my hands were killing me for 2 days after, but it's working great now.
