FASS

I looked at their instructions, and didn't like it at all. I modified the brackets, and mounted it almost as high as I could. Left some room for air flow, about 1/2". The other reason I did it that way was how secure it is now. I feel it is in a more secure position, hanging strait down instead of a hanging off a vertical face.

What model FASS did you do this with?.
The reason I ask this is I know the Titanium and Heavy Duty series FASS units have adjustable brackets so you raise and lower them in a mounting position you desire.I run a Heavy Duty series on my 12v and its mounted along the outside of the frame and in one of the upper sets of mounting holes. It sits so high when I had a motor failure recently I could not take the T-Block off with the pump mounted and it had to come off the truck to be worked on.It was mounted there in early 2007 and I have had zero issues with its mounting point.

If your buying either of the series I mentioned above(Titanium or Heavy Duty) there is a port located right on the fuel out port of the FASS for a fuel pressure gauge.Your electric/mechanical pressure sender can be mounted there or you could run some small pushlok hose front and do a remote mount of the sender like I did under the hood.I will see if I have any shots of the sender and where it is getting its feed from for you and I will post another shot of a FASS mount for you.........Andy
BTW..The fuel pressure gauge I use is a Stewart-Warner 100psi electrical mounted on my steering column.

Okay so I just got my FASS today, and I've been reading through the instructions. I think I'm going to put it all in Friday night. About how long does it take to install it? I've been getting everything ready that I can. Also, I'm guessing that it completely bypasses the fuel filter bowl?

You can bypass the factory fuel bowl, or keep it in place for extra filtration and fuel heater. I kept mine in place as the Canadian winters get a bit chilly. I took about 7 hours to do mine, but I also took pictures of almost every step. If your putting a draw straw in, and planning on leaving an almost empty tank for easier removal/install, make sure you have some fuel on hand afterwards. There is a notorious issue with the straw not being submersed in fuel during turns, acceleration, and braking when under 1/4 tank.

I'm not putting the draw straw in mine, i guess i've never had any problems with mine even when the fuel light is on, if your talking about the stock one. Do you have any pictures of how you hooked the line from the FASS to the filter bowl? And I noticed in Whits write up, the little metal quick connector that goes from the sending unit on the tank to the FASS has a black clip inside? Is mine supposed to have that too?
