Default NEED ADVICE

I will be getting a 99 CTD and would like to increase the engines performance...

What do you guys reccomend? It is completey stock right now....would like to make 450---525 hp

I dont want to buy an exhaust and find out later that I needed a different kind or it comes with a twin turbo kit....I have about 5k to sink in...

I'm into jeeps and need a tow rig with some power but haven't a clue on how to go about this the most economical way. With my jeep I bought 3-4 different lifts, upgraded axle and upgrade again...I just want to get to the end point once with this project..

so are there kits out there or speicals?

Thanks,
bob

start with an aftermarket fuel delivery system, then get some guages fuel pressure, pryo, and boost and if its an auto you might want to think about a a tranny temp guage as well.

1st off!

2ndly: Fill in your Sig so we know exactly whatcha got.

3rdly: Jump in and have some fun!

Depending on what trans you have, that will be the deciding factor on how far your $5k will go and how much Hp. You more then likely have a '53' block. Don't panic. There are tons of them out there in the high Hp range that have not had any problems. Dr. Evil I believe has 2 of them and hasn't had any problems.

If he wants to put 500 hp through an auto...hes going to need a LOT more than a tranny temp guage. JMO.

I have one of them...so far so good. But my fingers are firmly crossed. I personally would not bomb a #53 block.

BTW, TJREX - Welcome to the site - you came to the right place...

To reach 500 rear wheel HP, you are going to need the following: guages, tranny mods, 4 or 5" exhaust, a fuel system upgrade, a fueling box, some injectors and a turbo (s).

It might be a good idea to do it all in one shot and buy everything from the same source. You can tell them exactly what you want and they should be able to get you to where you want to be...without throwning a bunch of extra parts in.

If you insist on having twins, prepare to spend a few more $$'s. Im a pessimist...it may be tough to do for 5k (again, this depends on which tranny you have).

If it's an automatic tranny that may cost you most all the the 5 bills just to make it hold the HP your lookin for, especially haulin a trailered jeep behind it.

Thanks for the welcome

I do not have possesion of the truck yet but here is what I know....99, 65k auto, 4x4 that might have marine injectors. I will have it to work on in December.

I see where some trucks have the EDGE module, I thought it had gauges with it???? do you uses these chips with the twin turbos and such?
