Grid Heater delete
#11
There is zero HP gained from deleting the grid heaters. We have done back to back dyno runs with and without them and seeen no difference in HP/Tq.
Be careful of what intake horns you buy also as there are some out there that will cost you power and some that will only lighten your wallet and are more of a ornamental item.

[QUOTE=jkidd;525453]Get one of these instead. more air to cylinders 1,5&6 check out the last picture you will see the casting on the motor that is a huge restriction. I have them for 98-02 and a different model for 03-07
Hey J Kidd, PM me the cost of one of these bad boys!
And andy, I run mine with the heater

Have you seen the bottom of the intake that is on the side of the head? I dont know how this tunnel ram thing would get anymore air to 1,5 and 6? Its not the top of the intake that is restricting air, its the bottom of the intake the ports block half of the cylinder ports on 1 and 6.

The Tunnel Ram is NOT a replacement for porting the head. It is but one of the easier/cheaper (<$300.) things that will increase the balance/flow to the engine without pulling the head and milling off the intake to properly address the ports (>$2000.)
Most guys running decent boost have also blown the paper gasket under the stock cast plenum cover, so when you have to pull that corroded restrictive flat plate off, may as well put something on that not only looks much better, but will work better too! And unlike some bombs that may raise EGTs or produce less power under the curve, the Tunnel Ram has been shown to broaden the curve, and thats something you can enjoy EVERY time you drive your truck!
