Default Let's Talk Cam's Here

Well thanks to the cold weather my trucks down again and it looks like the front of it is comin off, a little problem with ice ya know. So why it's off I'm ponderin the idea of installin a new cam in it with the lobe for a mechanical lift pump.

So the question is which cam for modest HP gains for this old farm truck and what are the price ranges here.

Little bit a ice in the radiator does funny things sometime. Pressure tested everything and it all checked out except the radiator so i got off lucky there.

Bummer. I run a F1 diesel Helix 2 cam and am very happy with it. They run just under $500 new, and also include a bolt on cam gear as well. And like your criteria states, it has the lobe for a mechanical lift pump. The hot ticket drop in cam right now though really seems to be fletcher's Diesel Pro's cam. The max spool 2.5++ cam by Greg Houge also has a great reputation. I have heard a lot of mixed things about the Hamilton Diesel cams. Personally I Don't really like the specs on the hamilton Big stick cam, it has a fair amount of lift, more than my H2, but it doesn't have as much lobe seperation, which contributes to reversion, and decreases efficiency.

I've installed many, the only I have not as of yet is a cam from Zach Hamilton. I would not bother, with drop in cams you get drop in results.
