I believe the Nitrogen molecules in the NO2 also help to cool the burn some, pure oxygen introduced would just burn too hot.

pure oxygen is flamable... what you get from an ameri-gas or anywhere else isnt flamable and it isnt pure oxygen so using this for injection will be safe as it wont detonate upon compression, other issue is these bottles have to be stood straight up and down or at a slight angle (cant lay it flat) so no matter what you do your goin to have regulators poppin out. i figure nitrous can be just as dangerous as an oxygen tank... if not more; nitrous itself is combustable, welding/cutting oxygen is not. i wouldnt try it on the street until there are some kind of prior testing... for as much oxygen as you'd end up having to use to see a difference since its so diluted you'd end up going through a crap load of those tanks, so nitrous would probably be the cheaper route anyways an you dont have to guess whether its safe or not

Nitrous oxide is stable and inert until approximately 575 deg F when the molecular bond between the nitrogen and oxygen breaks and allows the oxygen to become an oxidant and increase the available total amount of free oxygen in the air/fuel misture, resulting in the ability to burn more fuel and make more power. Nitrous oxide itself is injected at a low temperature but breaks down so quickly that any benefit from that is negligible at best.

Oxygen is NOT flammable. It is an oxidizer, an accelerator as some like to call it...it lowers the viable combustion temperature of propellents it comes in contact with. Paper, wood, gasoline, diesel, etc.

Nitrous oxide is inert and stable when the oxygen and nitrogen molecules are bonded. I don't know where you got your information about oxygen being safer to use than NO2 but you need to do more research.
