Mean-Green 200amp Alternator Installed...
With all the additions to my truck recently and adding more electrical parts(FASS and Flex-A-Lite Fans) I figured I better head off a problem before it arose and BOMB my charging system.
For that I contacted Mean-Green Inc here in Pennsylvania as they make a NEW,not rebuilt, alternator that is 205amp and a direct bolt it.Well it didn't come in so we could install it with the fans so I got some time today and did the install. To say I wished it was here while we did the fans is a understatement,LOL.I had to remove the fans as I could not get the long bottom out, dooohhh.
Anyway,I got the old one off and unhooked and retired it to the,who knows if I will ever use it again bin(there is alot of parts from my truck which ended up in there) as it will now be a spare. The new one was a direct fit, utilizing the factory wiring harness and mounts and ws a relatively easy install once I got beyond my fan setiup.
After reinstalling the battery cables and making sure I had the belt straight I went and fired her off.I noticed immediately the difference in alternators on the volt gauge. Before at ilde right of a start it would come up and stay around 13.0-13.4v.The new one after starting went to 13.9 and stayed there and only drew down to 13.4 with all my electricial gadgets on(fans,FASS,headlights,A/C and stereo). Its a nice unit which is a option for those of you who may want to BOMB your charging system next.......Andy

Can't remember what our stock one is rated at, anybody know. I know I have hauled some horse trailers with a massive amount of lights, along with my dual fuel pumps, heated seats and all the other gadgets plugged in. I have never drained the battery with anything but I always wondered how far you could push it before it would become an issue.
Nice to see ya back Marine.
Nice to see ya back Marine.
Stock one is rated at 120amp.Mine was acting up before I had changed it which is why it was done. Not too bad though as it was the first one to fail in three trucks and over 450,000 miles.......Andy
