Stock lift pump with Edge programmer?

Stock lift pump with Edge programmer?
I'm new to diesels and just bought a 01' HO with six speed but want to get more power and economy without hurting the reliability of my truck. I like the safety features i've heard the edge juice w/ attitude has, and know I won't get the full potential out of my stock lift pump, but im not going to be driving around roasting the tires everywhere.
I've been told the stock lift pump is junk, I'm sure im going to replace it at some point but wouldn't it make sense to get the edge juice programmer and replace my stock pump when it starts going out? I know it could mean damage to my injector pump but if I monitor fuel pressure I should notice my lift pump going out right?
Thanks

Definitely fix the fuel supply issues first off. Even at stock HP this system is only barely adequate and hard on the Injector pump. You will extend it's life by supplying the extra fuel to it right away. If you start with the Fueling box you will trash that pump real quick.
We've all heard it a thousand times, "I just want the little extra power. I'm not even gonna tap the pump wire". We all said it but as soon as that box was hooked up and we got a taste of it you can't help but want more. It's part of bein a man, you can't stop it.
So start at the beginning and fix your fueling first and get a fuel pressure guage mounted that you can see at all times while your driving. My preference for this is the MITUSA belt driven lift pump myself. But the only 3 choices on the market are the Air Dog, FASS and MITUSA, anything other then one of these three and it's just a temporary and not reliable fix.

here is how it worked for me. I got the edge juice with attitude hooked up and had 4 psi at idle... 3 month old lift pump with new fuel filter... so being frugal I installed a holley blue as I had 1 I bought for my nova that was sold... it ran 9 months then died... got a new one it went 3 months... finally got a fass and it's been on for over a year and 25k on it not one issue. You can get the edge but you will need a lift pump..

There is nothing wrong with getting a box first. Just set the alarm for 8psi and back out when it goes off.
But you will need a pump someday.
Back in the day the hot setup was a relocated stock pump, a Comp and some 100HP sticks and that was considered WILD power back then! Stock pumps were supplying over 400HP trucks every day.
So, do what you feel is right and go from there!

We do far more installs of units without filters than with!
