FP gauge install questions

I have an airdog 150 and have the tapped quick connect line from the VP, your saying dont use the isolator? What about pressure spikes?
I have a small plastic hose with my kit with compression fittings on each side and from the guage through the firewall I have a thick rubber hose that the kit came with, should I just run the plastic line from the VP directly to the black hose to the guage?

Thats what the needle valve is for. It dampens the pressure spikes and saves the guage. Isolators just cause problems and inaccurate readings.
