If it's a South Bend dual disc, there's a washer that needs to be removed from behind the clutch fork pivot ball during installation - that could cause the problem.

I'm sure Peter can help if you give him a call.

well now we need to know which way the arm that moves the throw out bearing needs to be there is an h marking on one side of it does the h need to point to the drivers side or passanger side (part #5208715)

the side with the number on it goes on the pivot ball, it will also have a I stamped on that side.maybe your h looks like a i that side is the passenger side.

had the exact same problem in feburary when i put my DD in from southbend, i removed the washer and everything, ended up needing to grind down the shift fork just a little to clear as it was hitting the trans and wouldnt engage or release all the way. you can tell by pulling the trans back from the bell housing an inch and seeing if the front of the tranny case is marred up, its a pain in the neck.

also, if its a dual disc, make sure you have the clutch plates facing the correct way, having them backwards will also cause this.

well thanks guys come to find out the friend that helped us put it in wasnt wanting to admit that he put it in backwards but hes use to working on gas chevys...oh and 01s dont have shift forks they have pivit arms... shift forks are on the 98,99 and i think 00s... but thanks anyways that info might be usefull if i have to put a performance clutch in mine

the 52087515 is a clutch fork, and is in all dodge diesels from 94-08.
