The Rasp was by KO Engineering not DTT. It was the first belt driven diesel pump. I used my truck and tested a couple protos before going with the one I named RASP. (Rotory Axis Supply Pump) I got taken for my ideas and several pumps. This led to IE making the MITUSA (Made In The U S A) It came as a complete kit where as the RASP didn't include all the plumbing. It didn't take long to take out the RASP. Later the Mitusa was copied as the Boss by Glasier. Which has some funny story's about a guy much like you Dave.

As for the front radial seal leak issues more often than not it was because of debris getting between the seal and the shaft. The seal would cut into the shaft like some front oil seals do sometimes to a crankshaft. It is a very simple preventable fix but instead it was misdiagosed as being too tight of belt tension which is a pump killer as well.

Anyone who runs the 12V pump knows that they are limited in how much hp they can support. So for guys well over 500 hp its not a valid choice. Not to mention in a 2 gen truck like yours you have to install an aftermarket cam so there is a camlobe that powers it. You have seen a better design some time back, you mentioned it on dtr over a year ago? Nothing has yet come out so I just consider the source.

Ok guys its been a week or so and i like the new pump.... Other than the horrible gas mileage i'm getting. Before the pump i was getting 18 which I was totally happy with. After the pump I was pushing my truck pretty hard and got 15.5 so i filled it back up and tokk it very easy on her (i.e. shifting before 1500rpm or so) and i'm still getting around 16mpg. I have about 200 highway miles on this tank.

Will a pre-filter help?

its a fluke, no way the two are related.

Have you changed you fuel filter since install, maybe trash in the new lines?

As long as you still have the screen on the draw tube in the tank your fine for prefiltering, nothin more needed. For that big a drop in mileage it would have to be a fuel leak. Nothin else will make that big a difference. Air in the lines will make some drop at first but that will be within the first several miles.
