Default I'm lookin for a few lights, instead of gauges

There are a few things that I'd like to monitor, but think a simple light would do, instead of a gauge.

If I get below a certain fuel pressure.
If my alternator stops charging.
If either diffs, or transfer case, got up to a certain temperature.

What do ya guys think?
Could somebody direct me to whoever makes what I'm looking for here?

Thanks

Im a NO on this - guages are important and I think just about everyone on the site will agree with me.

Sure lights might work but you need to have access to specialized test equipment to test and calibrate the setpoints of the switches taht run the lights. Without the test equipment you really have idiot lights.

Carl, you need a pyro, boost guage, and tranny temp guage (if you tow anything). Theres no shortcuts here.

What is it about guages that you dont like?

I don't think he's trying to replace the EGT and Boost gauges. Just ones that are less important and are nice to know but don't necessarly need gauges.

You could probably adapt the BD kit to work on a 12v for the fuel PSI. Isspro makes a wide range of buzzers, PSI/Temp. opening switches, and warning lights.

my truk will have guages just to get used to the truck then they are coming back out. Once you get used to ur truck you should know exactly what its doing.

Dr Evil, who said I didn't like gauges? I didn't mention pyro, boost, and auto tranny temp, cause I'm getting those gauges.
Nate hit it on the head, there are a few items that I only care about, if there is something wrong. Like the fuel pressure, alternator, and some temperatures. For the most part they are very reliable, so why do I need a gauge that never moves, when a simple light could be cheaper and just as effective??
Anyway it was just an idea I had so I thought I'd try to get some more info on it
Thanks for the responses guys, and all constructive critisism is welcomed

For someone that does the same thing in the same place at the same time every time with their truck, that'd be ok. IE: trips down the same drag strip or sled pulling. But for those of us that haul loads or change elevations that'd be a bad move.

I hardly ever look at my gauges anymore when not towing just because I know how my truck will react, but I will never take them out because I know what to expect.

First of all, my comments in no way were to be taken as CRITICISM !!

Second,...Sorry, I must have read into your post....I remember you asking "if you can work on mechanical guages"....so I assumed you were thinking about NOT getting the other guages.

As for your questions, I still believe that if you do not have access to properly calibrated test equipment, swtiches are not a good idea. You need a way to check and calibrate the switches. As well, switches (pressure, temperature, etc.) can drift over time and the contacts are not made at precisely the same point on every cycle of the switch. FWIW, I work with this kind of equipment every day. Just 2 cents from an Instrument Tech & Instrument Mechanic.

Guages arent very expensive and they are factory calibrated. You can install a fp guage for much less than $40...
